CANADA’S INFAMOUS LOSS TO HONDURAS

With an infamous loss to Honduras in 2012 which saw Canada being defeated with a margin of 8-1, the players for the Canadian team only managed to leave the Estadio Olimpico Metropolitano with their legs on the ground.

This year, they faced almost the same situation after a faceoff with Honduras at the World Cup Qualifiers saw them lose 2-1 in a match which has been described as a crucial game.

HONDURAS BATTLE ARGENTINA FOR QUARTERFINAL SPOT

Honduras is set to face Argentina for a place in the quarterfinal of the men’s event in football at the ongoing Olympic Games in Brazil.

Both teams are in group D that also include Portugal and Algeria. Portugal have six points from the two round of games, while Algeria have no point. Only two countries can make the next cut to the knockout stages, leaving an all out war between Argentina – who want to redeem their image after a poor start at the tournament, and Honduras.

Jorge Luis Pinto admits about Team being short of Few Players

Honduras national team manager Jorge Luis Pinto admitted that he will be short of a few players at the upcoming Rio Olympics 2016 due to injuries, but he remains confident that the replacements will be able to make a major impact.

The upcoming Rio Olympics 2016 is a major deal for Honduras especially since it looks like they will miss out on World Cup qualification for the 2018 edition. The recent 2-0 win over El Salvador has lifted the team into the second spot of their group, but there is no place for comfort just yet.

Honduras At A Crucial Stage For FIFA

End of March this year saw Honduras challenge their opposing team El Salvador in what was their second match for the CONCACAF World Cup qualifier rounds.

In the last match both the teams had a draw and the results did not help either of the sides get desired points and weightage.

At the group stage for qualifying in the World Cup both the teams are in the lower half. With three matches remaining for both teams, the pressure is on for sure.

Honduras suffered loss with El Salvador takes Team to Poor Form

Honduras suffered a 2-2draw with El Salvador and the result continued to keep the team behind Canada in the World Cup qualification campaign.

The national team was very much in need of a good result from this game especially since it was at home. However, manager Jorge Pinto was sent off to the stands by referee Ricardo Montero Costa Rica and he was unable to make much impact on the match. Mexico are the overwhelming favourites to win the group and qualify for the World Cup 2018. However, the second spot is certainly up for grabs and a win would have put Honduras back in the midst.
