SUAREZ IMPRESSED

The Honduras national team manager Luis Fernando Suarez has praised the abilities of the goalkeeper Donis Escobar by saying that he has all the capabilities to become one of the top players in his position.

The goalkeeper was in outstanding form when Honduras were playing against Peru. He made a number of crucial saves over the course of the match, while also being instrumental in helping the team get at least a draw from the match with a last-minute save. The Peru midfielder Rinaldo Cruzado struck a wonderful volley in the 90th minute, which appeared to be destined for the back of the net.

However, Escobar made a wonderful save in order to keep the scores level for Honduras. Honduras and Peru are both looking to get into the 2014 FIFA World Cup, as they are in a strong position in the respective qualifying tables. As a result, both the managers were interested in fielding inexperienced players in order to look at the quality. The Peru manager said after the match that he was satisfied with the result despite this being a draw. He has attributed this to the number of shots that the team had in the match, while the performance of the Honduras goalkeeper was responsible for keeping them out.

“There’s no doubt Escobar has the capabilities to be a national team-caliber player. I have complete confidence in him. It helped me see where we are doing well and what areas we need to improve. This experiment allowed me to come away with many conclusions,” said the Honduras manager after the match. “Result aside – I think the stats clearly show we had six or seven scoring chances against none by the opponent – I am pleased with the way my team responded,” said his Peruvian counterpart.
