HONDURAS LOSES OSORIO

Colombian Juan Carlos Osorio cannot coach Honduras because of another contract. Colombian champions Once Caldas would not release Osorio, the Fenafuth said four days after they named him as their new coach to see them through the 2014 World Cup qualifiers.

"For reasons of incompatibility that he could not resolve, Juan Carlos Osorio cannot be appointed as new coach of the Honduran national team," a Fenafuth statement said.

HONDURAS BEATEN BY THE US

The Houduras national football team was beaten by the United States national football team a few weeks ago. he team won seven of the eight matches they played against Barbados, Cuba, Guatemala, and Trinidad & Tobago throughout the Second and Third Rounds of qualifying games. By doing so, they qualified to play in the Fourth Round against other teams including Costa Rica, El Salvador, Honduras, Mexico and Trinidad & Tobago.

Honduras National football team has moved up places in the CONCACAF rankings. The USA leads in CONCACAF with Mexico second, Honduras third, Costa Rica 4th, with Panama 5th.

RUEDA STEPS DOWN

Reinaldo Rueda has retired as the national coach of the Honduras National footaball team. The popular Colombian took Los Catrachos to just their second FIFA World Cup this year, where they lost Group H matches against Chile and Spain, before completing their fixtures with a scoreless draw against Switzerland.

Rueda, who previously coached Colombia in the qualifiers for the 2006 FIFA World Cup, took over at the start of 2007. In three years he rebuilt the Honduras squad and led them to the FIFA World Cup for the first time since 1982.

PALACIOS EXPRESSES DISAPPOINTMENT

Wilson Palacios has expressed his disappointment of not making it past the Group stages in the World Cup but is also proud of Honduras achievements so far. PALACIOS HAPPY AT SPURS

Tottenham Hotspur midfield powerhouse Wilson Palacios has rubbished reports that he wants to move to a bigger club, insisting he is happy in north London.

The 25-year-old was recently linked with a move to Spanish giants Real Madrid but claims he is only concerned with earning a Champions League spot with Spurs.

The Honduras international, who will represent his country in this year’s World Cup, was quoted in The Sun as saying: "The truth is I'm very, very happy here. My team-mates have really helped me to settle in.

HONDURAS SUFFER TURKEY BLOW

Honduras have work left to do ahead of June's World Cup. On Wednesday, the central-Americans failed to convince in a 2-0 defeat by Turkey.

The World Cup participants faced Turkey, who themselves failed to qualify for the finals, at Istanbul's Atatürk Olmpiyat stadium.

The Turks went ahead four minutes before the break with Emre Gungor directing the opening goal past keeper Donis Esober.

And ten minutes after the interval, it was Bayern Munich midfielder Hamit Altintop to set the score to 2-0. This would also be the final result.
